Passport is the most essential thing to travel outside the country. Sometimes the most essential things are simply lost from our hand. That’s really painful. Now we have solutions for all our problems. We can apply for a new passport if our passport is lost. Today here I’m sharing how to apply for a new passport when our passport is lost.
When your passport is lost, you should be immediately reported to the nearest police station, and to the passport office or Indian Mission, if you are in abroad. And you also, apply for “Re-issue” of a passport at your nearest Passport Seva Kendra and submit the required documents along with your passport application form. Processing time for the lost passport may require 8 weeks in most cases. Sometimes it may be lead to 4 months.
- Present address proof
- Submit proof for date of birth ( SSLC certificate or identity card )
- Your passport size photo.
- Return explanation about how the passport was lost.
- A copy of the complaint given to the police station or concerned authority.
You are lost your passport sometime before your travel, you just rearrange your travel and apply for an emergency certificate. After receiving the emergency certificate, you can resume the travel time and you can travel with the emergency certificate.
How to apply for an emergency certificate
When you realize you lost your passport and need to go to some other country, you can apply for an emergency certificate from the nearest embassy. The emergency certificate will get within 2 weeks from the embassy. Also, for an emergency certificate, you need to pay a certain amount.
Tip: If you have a passport, just take a hard copy or take a photo and save it. You need to submit passport number and issue date to get a new passport.
