New Whatsapp Update brings UPI Based Payment System

Whatsapp is a well-known messenger application. I know, people do not need an introduction about WhatsApp. Because most of them are using it. An essential and widely used application in all over the world. Now, Whatsapp introducing an interesting feature. And today, here I’m sharing some details about this feature. In India, Whatsapp introduced UPI-based Payments feature in its new Whatsapp update.


UPI(Unified Payments Interface) is an instant real-time payment system developed by National Payments Corporation of India. It founded on April 2016. Currently lots of people being a part of it. Because with UPI we can send payments instantly at any time even holidays also. In UPI System we can send payments, for that we just need the registered mobile number only. Now, the popular messenger app Whatsapp also introducing this feature. And The WhatsApp Payments feature is being tested in its beta version (on iOS (2.18.21) and Android (2.18.41)) for some select users but now more users have started receiving the feature by getting invitations from their friends. When you get this feature a payment icon will show on attachment menu.

Let’s see how to send money by using Whatsapp UPI Bas Payment System

You want to send payment via Whatsapp, your Whatsapp number should be same as your registered mobile number on your bank account with supporting the UPI option.

When you clicking on the payment option listed under attachment menu, a disclaimer window will show up with a list of banks. Then you can select your preferred bank with the list of banks. Next, you have to create an authentication pin, in case you haven’t yet used the UPI payments program. Then, its connected to Whatsapp UPI based payment system. And you can send payment via Whatsapp to your friends or family. But one condition is that the receiver also having this new payment feature.

Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Yes Bank, Airtel Payments Bank, Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, and more banks supported Whatsapp UPI based payment system.

For sending money to your friend, first, you choose his/her contact to send your first payment, then select the bank account and amount to be transferred, and enter your UPI Pin. Then its done your money will send to your friend. After completing the transaction, Whatsapp notifies you. Also, you can check the transaction history under Settings > Payment option.
