Recently lots of applications providing the offline feature. Google Maps, YouTube app also providing this feature. Like that, now the popular Gmail is also providing the offline feature. Email id is now a mandatory field in most of the areas including government applications. Majority of people using Google service Gmail for this purpose. So nowadays, Gmail is a really important application in our daily life. Official or personal we are receiving lots of emails via Gmail daily. Earlier, we need an active internet connection for reading and send emails via Gmail app. But recently Google rolled out this new Gmail offline feature. This feature enables you to manage the popular Gmail without an active internet connection. Today, here I explain about Gmail offline feature.

The Gmail Offline enables you to access your emails and compose new emails without having an Internet connection, or your internet connection is unreliable or slow. When you reconnect, Gmail automatically sends the outbound messages. But 30 days is the maximum sync period for data. The Gmail Offline feature only works on Google Chrome browser application. This capability is provided as a free Chrome web application.

You need the latest version of Google Chrome installed with the free Chrome web app for activating and use Gmail Offline feature. And you should enable the Offline access in your Google Admin console as I mentioned above. If you want to disable this feature, just go to your settings and uncheck the “Enable offline mail.” An important note is, you can compose emails in Offline mode, but you can’t send it. When you send emails offline, your email goes into the “Outbox” folder and gets sent when you go back online.

How to Turn on Gmail offline feature for your Gmail account

  1. On your computer, Open your Google Chrome.
  2. Then, Sign in with your Gmail account.
  3. And Go to Gmail offline settings.
  4. You can see an “Enable offline mail.” with a checkbox, just check the checkbox to enable it.
  5. You can choose your settings, such as how many days of messages you want to sync.
  6. After settings completed, just click to Save changes.
